Buffalo Turbine Old to New
Turning your old Buffalo Turbine in to a new one can be a fun process. In our business there are many ways you can save money. Some of those ways are to buy/lease new equipment and other times they are to refurbish the equipment that you have. One example I have is that I recently refurbished our Buffalo Turbine (KB2) that is right around 8 years old. It had the wired remote, 23HP Kohler engine and as you can tell by the photos has been rode hard. This is a piece of equipment that gets used more than any other. It operates every day and mostly at full throttle making it the most susceptible to need repairs.
Having refurbished a Buffalo Blower in the past I knew what to expect for the most part. However I also wanted to improve it and get it where one today would be if I ordered it. A new blower is generally in the $7500 range just to give you some ball park figures. I figured I would upgrade from 23hp to 27hp and also add the wireless remote, some new fenders, coupling, replace the bent axle and install a new hitch. I repainted the turbine, trailer, and installed new decals. For $3500 this is what I turned it into.
Sometimes it makes much more sense to rebuild what you have and keep it another 7 years vs always buying a new one. This doesn’t work on everything but in this case I think we got our money’s worth.
